Pune Activist Allegedly Assaulted by Four Ganesh Mandal Members Over Noise Protest

Pune activist Vidyanand Bapat was allegedly assaulted by four people linked to a Ganesh mandal during a TV9 Marathi interview at Kashale Chowk, amid a dispute over Ganeshotsav noise pollution.

Social activist Vidyanand Bapat, known for opposing loud DJ music during Ganeshotsav, was allegedly beaten by four people linked to a local Ganesh mandal while he was gathering public opinions at Kashale Chowk on Tilak Road.

The alleged assault was captured on footage during Bapat’s TV9 Marathi interview. Bapat said the incident occurred while he was collecting public views on noise pollution during the festival.

According to Bapat, police were absent at the location when the alleged assault took place. He has opposed loud DJ music during Ganeshotsav, stating that excessive festival noise can harm residents’ health.
